Old Man Goes to Visit Daughter for His 80th Birthday, She
A Surprise Visit Gone Wrong
Richard shows up unannounced at his daughter Deidre’s house to celebrate his 80th birthday. But instead of a warm welcome, she meets him at the door in tears and quickly sends him away. Suspicious, Richard peeks through her window and sees two men inside. “Who was that?” one demands. Deidre lies, “Just a neighbor’s kid.” They threaten her over missed loan payments and begin ransacking her home. “Time is one thing you haven’t got,” one warns, pulling a gun.
A Desperate Plan
After the thugs leave, Richard follows them to a club downtown. There, he confronts their boss, Mr. Marco, who reveals Deidre owes $80,000. “That’s only a quarter of what she owes us,” Marco says when Richard offers his savings. Marco proposes a shady deal: “A kind, innocent-looking Grandpa like you should have no trouble crossing the border in one of our cars.” Richard reluctantly agrees.
Near Escape
On the way to the border, a police dog alerts its handler, and Richard flees. He crashes the car into a river and narrowly escapes drowning. Back home, he mortgages his house and withdraws the full debt plus $15,000 for the lost car. He returns to the club to settle the debt, but Marco explodes: “You have the audacity to offer me a measly $15,000?” Before Marco can act, police raid the club. Richard and Deidre hide and are later rescued. The sunken car had tipped off authorities, leading to the gang’s arrest.
Rebuilding Trust
“I dragged you into this whole mess,” Deidre admits. Richard comforts her, saying, “You are not a failure… I just wish you felt you could be as close with me as you were with your mother.” They reconcile, ready to start anew, together.
