I Went to Pick Up My Wife and Newborn Twins f
A Joyful Arrival
I was overjoyed heading to the hospital to meet my wife, Suzie, and our newborn twins, Emily and Grace. Everything was perfect—balloons filled our home and car, and a playlist of Suzie’s favorite songs played softly. I wanted her homecoming to be special after the challenges she faced during pregnancy.
An Empty Room
But the moment I stepped into her hospital room, the joy faded.
Suzie was gone. Only our daughters were there, sleeping peacefully in their bassinets. The room was silent, and the only clue left behind was a note on the bedside table. I picked it up, hands shaking. Her message was brief and confusing:
“Leaving. Make sure that they stay safe and healthy. It would be best for you to look into why your mother did the things she did to me.”
A Sudden Disappearance
Panicked, I rushed to the nurses’ station. They said she had checked out that morning, but no one had expected it. I had no idea where she had gone or why she left. This wasn’t how things were supposed to end. I thought she had enjoyed our time together—at least, that’s what I believed.
A Quiet Homecoming
Despite the worry, I brought Emily and Grace home, trying to stay calm. Each step was clouded by unanswered questions. As I pulled into the driveway, my mother, Mandy, greeted me warmly, smiling and holding a baking dish. Her welcome contrasted sharply with the confusion and fear growing inside me.
