A Long-Term Relationship and Engagement
Meghan McCain and Ben Domenech have been together since 2014 and got engaged in July 2017.
Meghan revealed on The View, “We have been engaged for a while and we have been together for years.” She kept their engagement private for some time but shared that she was “really happy and I adore him.” Their engagement was partly inspired by her father Senator John McCain’s health struggles, as Meghan said, “Because we made the decision to sort of celebrate life, being alive.”
Marriage and Family Growth
The couple married in November 2017 at the McCain family lodge in Arizona, with Senator John McCain giving Meghan away.
Meghan described their wedding day: “With their family and close friends by their sides, Meghan and Domenech celebrated with dinner and dancing after the ceremony.” After a heartbreaking miscarriage in 2019, Meghan shared a raw account: “I look back at those pictures now, and I see a woman hiding her shock and sorrow.” In September 2020, they welcomed their first daughter, Liberty.
Welcoming More Children
Their family grew with the birth of their second daughter, Clover, in January 2023. Meghan and Ben shared photos, saying, “We are all ecstatic and happy.” In June 2025, Meghan announced on her podcast Citizen McCain that she is pregnant with their third child, a boy. She expressed mixed feelings: “Being pregnant with a boy makes me extremely anxious. In addition, I’m anxious about having three kids. Very.”
Relationship Reflections
Meghan once reflected on why she chose Ben, saying on The Ben Shapiro Show, “Conservative men take dating, marriage, and family more seriously, and they have better family values.” Despite challenges, Meghan praised their bond during the pandemic: “Ben, I couldn’t have imagined you, but I love you. I would rather be in a foxhole with no one.” The couple remains close and focused on family, embracing life’s ups and downs together.
