They Gathered To Immortalize A

A Rare Six-Generation Portrait

A heartwarming photo recently captured six generations of women in one family—

from a newborn to her 98-year-old great-great-great-grandmother, MaeDell Hawkins.

The image shows MaeDell holding baby Zhavia, surrounded by her daughter Francis, granddaughter Gracie Howell, great-granddaughter Jacqueline, and great-great-granddaughter Jaisline.

Gracie called the photo “fantastic,” adding, “It included all the women in the family.”

A Life of Strength and Love

MaeDell’s life has been marked by love, resilience, and strength.

Married at 16 to a man in his 50s, she helped raise his 10 children from a previous marriage and had 13 of her own.

Gracie reflected on those early years, noting, “There was no washing machine, no dishwasher, and no running water.” Yet, MaeDell “went about her day without uttering a single complaint.”

A Legacy That Inspires

Now living in a nursing home, MaeDell is still full of energy and wisdom. During a visit, she gently took restless baby Zhavia and “tickled the baby’s little feet.” Gracie said she’ll never forget her grandmother’s loving embrace, adding, “I adore her.” Despite loss and hardship, MaeDell remains a source of joy and guidance. “We have a big, wonderful family,” she says with pride.

An Unexpected Spotlight

Gracie shared the photo and MaeDell’s story with a local meteorologist, never expecting the overwhelming positive response. “The very positive reception left her ecstatic,” Gracie said. It’s become a celebration of a long, fulfilling life and proof that age does not define one’s value. MaeDell’s story reminds us all that love, perseverance, and family are what truly matter.
