Shooting at Minneapolis Catholic School
A tragic shooting occurred at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis during the first week of the school year.
The school, which serves Pre-K through 8th grade, was reportedly targeted by a man dressed in black and armed with a rifle.
The incident took place around 8:15 a.m. while students were attending Mass.
Officials Respond
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz confirmed the incident on X: “I’ve been briefed on a shooting at Annunciation Catholic School…
I’m praying for our kids and teachers whose first week of school was marred by this horrific act of violence.”
Minneapolis police announced that “the shooter is contained” and confirmed there is “no active threat to the community.” CNN later reported the shooter was deceased.
Scene and Reunification
Emergency responders from multiple agencies—including the FBI, State Patrol, and local police—rushed to the scene on West 54th Street.
Families were directed to a reunification site at the school. Authorities asked the public to avoid the area to allow emergency personnel to assist victims.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem stated, “DHS is monitoring the horrific shooting… I am praying for the victims of this heinous attack and their families.”
