Our thoughts and prayers go out to Donald Trump and his family for their tragic loss
Lou Dobbs, the well-known political commentator, has died at the age of 78. His death was announced shortly before former President Donald Trump’s acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention. Trump expressed his sorrow, calling Dobbs an “incredible talent” and a remarkable journalist.
Dobbs’ journalism career began at Arizona radio station KBLU. By the mid-1970s, he transitioned to television, joining NBC’s King-TV in Seattle. In 1980, he became one of CNN’s first reporters, serving as chief economics correspondent and hosting “Moneyline.”
Known for his controversial views, Dobbs promoted the debunked theory that Barack Obama was not born in the U.S. His intense coverage of illegal immigration led to tension with CNN, resulting in his departure in 2009. The cause of Dobbs’ death has not been disclosed.
