Keith Urban Alters Famous Love Song
A Love Song Shaken
Keith Urban shocked fans by altering the lyrics of his ballad “The Fighter,” originally written for wife Nicole Kidman.
During a performance, he replaced “Baby, I’ll be the fighter” with “Maggie, I’ll be your guitar player,” naming his bandmate Maggie Baugh.
Broken Promises
Urban had long said the song was like “vows,” born from real conversations with Kidman.
In 2017, she admitted the song moved her to tears: “I remember when he first played it for me. I started to cry.”
Fan Outrage and Suspicions
The change sparked furious reactions online.
One fan raged, “So he goes and sleeps with his guitar player and slaps Nicole in the face by changing the lyrics.” Others accused Urban of a midlife crisis.
Marriage Collapse
Reports soon confirmed cracks in the marriage. According to TMZ, Kidman filed for divorce citing “irreconcilable differences.” Both waived spousal and child support, choosing to keep their own property.
