Survivor of October 7 Attack Found Dead Two Years Later
Israel and Hamas have reportedly agreed on the “first phase” of a peace plan,
but the pain from the October 7, 2023 attacks still lingers deeply.
During Hamas’s assault, around 1,200 people were killed, including hundreds of civilians.
Among the survivors was Roei Shalev, who shielded his girlfriend Mapal Adam with his body during the Nova music festival massacre.
Mapal, 25, was shot while hiding under a truck after texting her sister: “Don’t tell Mom, I’m scared.
There’s a massacre. Bullets are hitting me in the head.”
Roei survived by pretending to be dead for hours, but the trauma was devastating.
His mother took her own life two weeks later.
Last week, just after the attack’s second anniversary, Roei, 30, was found dead in a burning car near Tel Aviv.
Before his death, he wrote: “I just want this suffering to end.”
His story is a heartbreaking reminder of the unseen wounds left by terror and the urgent need for mental health support for survivors.
