Teen stepbrothers who drowned at park

Tragic Loss in Sanford, Maine

Two teenage stepbrothers, Tavayne Weir, 17, and D’andre Graham, 16,

were found dead after going swimming at the Springvale Recreation Area in Sanford, Maine.

The site is known for its 30-foot cliff dives and strong currents.

Search and Discovery

When the boys missed their 10 p.m. curfew, police found their car but no sign of them.

After an extensive search, rescuers discovered their bodies underwater.

“Using flashlights and high intensity lights, they were able to locate them below the water,”

said Major Matthew Gagne of the Sanford Police Department.

Unclear Circumstances

“We don’t know if they were jumping or just swimming…

We assume they were probably by themselves,”

Gagne explained, noting a “one- or two-mile-an-hour current.”

Brothers Until the End

A family fundraiser shared, “They showed incredible courage and loyalty, holding on to each other until the very end,”

proving their bond was “more than stepbrothers; they were true brothers.”
