Betty Harford, ‘Dynasty’ and ‘Paper Chase’ Actress, Dies at 98

Beloved actress Betty Harford, known for her roles in Dynasty and The Paper Chase,

passed away peacefully on November 2 in Santa Barbara, California, at age 98, her friend Wendy Mitchell confirmed.

Mitchell shared on Facebook, “Betty Harford Naszody passed away peacefully with family at her side,

noon on November 2, 2025. She was 98.”

Harford became a household name in the 1980s as Mrs. Gunnerson,

the witty Carrington family cook on Dynasty (1981–1989).

Fans fondly recalled her “legendary lamb stew for Blake,”

a running joke that made her a cult favorite.

Before Dynasty, she appeared as Mrs. Nottingham in The Paper Chase and guest-starred in classics like The Twilight Zone and Gunsmoke.

Born in New York in 1927, Harford also appeared in films like Spartacus and Inside Daisy Clover.

She is survived by her son, Chris, and grandsons.
