Mass Shooting at Minneapolis Church Leaves 2 Dead, Many Injured

A mass shooting at Annunciation Catholic Church in Minneapolis on August 27, 2025, has left two people dead and around 20 injured, including children.

Four victims remain in critical condition, according to KARE 11.

The attack began around 8:30 AM at the church on West 54th Street, triggering a major emergency response.

As many as 40 police and medical vehicles rushed to the scene. The situation is ongoing, and authorities are urging the public to avoid the area.

Eyewitnesses Describe Chaos

Local resident Michael Kraabel shared on X, “I live in Tangletown, Minneapolis and just heard a massive shoot out just a couple blocks from my house. 100+ rounds. Now we hear sirens coming.”

The shooting caused panic throughout the neighborhood, and several children were among those evacuated from the church.

Bomb Threat and Manhunt Underway

Authorities are investigating a possible explosive device inside the church. The bomb squad, police, and a State Patrol helicopter are on site. The suspect, believed to be wearing all black and carrying a rifle, remains at large. A manhunt is underway, though the shooter’s exact whereabouts are unknown.

City Leaders Respond

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey addressed the crisis, saying, “I’m monitoring reports of horrific violence in South Minneapolis. I’m in touch with Chief O’Hara and our emergency response team has been activated.”

He added, “Please give our officers the space they need to respond to the situation.”
