Goosebumps’: Pope Leo XIV Gives

On May 8, 2025, history was made in Vatican City as Cardinal Robert Prevost, newly elected as Pope Leo XIV, stepped onto the central balcony of St. Peter’s Basilica to deliver his first public message. The moment marked a powerful milestone — not only is he the 267th pope of the Roman Catholic Church, but he is also the first American to hold the role.

“Peace be with all of you,”

the new pope began, his words echoing across St. Peter’s Square and through live broadcasts worldwide. Centering his address on peace, unity, and hope, Pope Leo XIV struck an emotional chord that moved many in attendance — and many more watching online.

“This is a disarming peace,”

he continued,
