Grandma Asked Me to Move Her Favorite Rose
The Promise
Before she died, my grandmother Liz made me promise:
“After I’m gone, move my rosebush. A year to the day.”
She also told me the house was for my mom and me.
The Betrayal
After the funeral, my aunt Karen appeared with a “new will,” claiming the house.
We searched everywhere for the original but found nothing.
Forced to leave, Mom and I moved to a small cottage while Karen rented Grandma’s home.
The Rosebush Secret
On the anniversary, I dug up Grandma’s roses.
Beneath the roots, I found a rusted box with her letter and a signed copy of the real will.
“This house belongs to you and your mother,” she wrote.
Justice and Return
With our lawyer’s help, we proved fraud. Karen was charged, her lawyer disbarred, and the judge restored the house to us. We replanted the rosebush by the porch—its blooms a reminder that Grandma’s love protected us, even after she was gone.
