Unexpected Invitation and Suspicion

One Thursday evening, Brian came home humming, “Big news! The company’s throwing a work party tomorrow night, a team bonding thing. Strictly employees.”

Though Brian wasn’t usually outgoing, I accepted it. The next morning, he was unusually sweet, wrapping his arms around me and saying, “You know you’re amazing, right?” I laughed it off, thinking he was just trying to earn brownie points.

A Shocking Discovery

While busy with chores, my phone rang during the party. I heard Brian say, “My wife? She’s probably cooking and scrubbing toilets or something. She’s so predictable! Meanwhile, I’m here with you, my love.” There was a woman giggling nearby, and I felt my stomach drop. Without crying, I grabbed my coat and drove to the party.

Confronting the Truth

At the luxury venue, I told the hostess, “Hi, yes, I just came to drop something off for my husband quickly.” Then I saw Brian with a young woman in a red dress. “Emily?” he stammered. I raised my voice, “You left something at home.” Turning to everyone, I said, “Brian loves to play the doting husband at home. The Helper and New Beginning

Later, a woman named Valerie called me. “I… used to work with Brian,” she said. “I’ve been watching him li:e and che:at for months… He bragged about you, laughed about how ‘easy’ it is to fool you.” Valerie had arranged the call from the party to reveal the truth. Feeling grateful, I packed Brian’s things. The next morning, Brian found his key didn’t fit because I had changed the locks — a clear sign it was over.
