She Asked The Internet To Guess Her Age And W
Woman’s Age Shocks Social Media: “People Have Lost Touch With Reality”
When 36-year-old Emily from Sydney asked TikTok users to guess her age, the responses—ranging from 42 to 60—left her stunned. “People have lost touch with reality,” she told FEMAIL, blaming society’s obsession with filters, cosmetic procedures, and edited images.
Unfiltered and Real
Emily, who has never had Botox or cosmetic work, says she’s embracing her natural appearance. “I’ve never had any work done, I’m not wearing makeup, and I’ve never had Botox,” she said in her video. She added that her graying hair began at 19 and she stopped dyeing it during lockdown. “This is the truth, even though I know most people my age won’t show their grey hair.”
Public Reaction
Viewers couldn’t believe her age. Comments included: “You’re in your mid-40s… it’s your frown lines, fine lines around your eyes, and your grey hair and skin,” and, “You look great for a 55-year-old.” Some guessed more accurately, with a few people in their 30s and 20s saying she looked 36. Still, others were way off: “36 approaching 60,” said one man.
Emily expressed her disbelief in a follow-up video: “Someone believes I’m 58, but they’re only 35. Do I really appear that old?”
Pushing Back Against Beauty Standards
Frustrated by pressure to look younger, Emily started a sleepwear brand, Dawn & Dusk Co. “Pajamas are the best way to achieve comfort,” she explained. “When she isn’t constrained by her need for acceptance, she can accomplish incredible things.” Her mission: help women of all ages feel secure, natural, and proud of who they are.
