VP Vance Takes No Democrat Prisoners
The Shutdown and Blame
The government has shut down, with Republicans blaming Democrats for blocking a clean funding bill.
Vice President JD Vance called it the “Schumer Shutdown,” noting:
“You don’t shut the government down because you have a policy disagreement… and that’s what the Democrats have done.”
Democrats’ Demands
According to Republicans, Democrats pushed for “$1.5 trillion in new spending, a permanent extension of COVID-era programs, and taxpayer-funded healthcare for illegal immigrants.”
Vance stressed that Democrats chose a shutdown over negotiating:
“Let’s talk about it, let’s negotiate, let’s do what you do in Washington, D.C., don’t shut down the government because you don’t get what you want.”
The Healthcare Dispute
Vance also criticized Democrats’ push for benefits for illegal immigrants:
“The Biden administration gave mass parole to millions… and made those parolees eligible for healthcare benefits covered by taxpayers.”
Politics Over Governance
Republicans argue Democrats’ actions stem from hatred of Donald Trump, not policy. Their strategy, Vance suggested, risks alienating voters: Democrats are “running on fear and survival instinct.”
